T'ai Chi Ch'uan
The purpose of this class is to teach the art of T'ai Chi Ch'uan as an internal discipline to improve one's health. Dimitri and Elena believe that through the understanding and development of Chi (Vital Energy), with respect to the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is possible to bring one's life into a state of harmony: mentally, physically and spiritually. The martial aspect of T'ai Chi could be described as a practice of "conflict resolution" aimed at the maturity of the human being. Maturity means being in a state of mind which can see harmony in disharmony, unity in opposition, living life fully moment by moment, realizing one's True Self and being most effective and creative.    Learn More
Silat
White Crane Silat traces its origins to the monasteries and convents of China around 600 A.D. At this time the first patriarch of the legendary Shaolin temple, Bodhidharma (a.k.a. Ta Mo), first integrated internal yoga disciplines and martial arts training into a new movement practice. It is a very physical practice with movement styles that include animal forms (white crane, tiger, snake, monkey and dragon, etc.), elements of nature (wind, bamboo, earth, etc.), and Buddhist and Taoist deities such as the Goddess of Compassion, the God of Justice, and the Eight Immortals (including the drunken system). Many of these movement systems are also associated with specific forms of energy cultivation (Chi Kung), which variously aimed at developing power, health, and spirituality.    Learn More
